Burl
A downloadable Instrument
Burl is a live granular processor for Organelle M. Feed it anything — guitar, a synth, a room mic — and it rebuilds it out of overlapping grains while you play. Four grain heads read a rolling four-second buffer at staggered offsets, so it never sounds like a single delay. K3 sets how densely they overlap; at the top it becomes a texture rather than an effect.
K1 Wow+flut - tape wobble on the master, not just the grains
K2 Pitch - transposes the grain heads
K3 Density - how thickly the grains overlap
K4 Tone - filtering and dry/wet
AUX Octave - an octave up, with reverb
MIDI notes play alongside the granular, pitched from the same buffer, so you can play chords out of your own input. K1 is a real tape flutter — it wobbles the whole output, so even the dry signal drifts. Turn it up and the whole thing starts to sound like a machine that needs servicing.
Requires an Organelle M. Drop the folder in your Patches directory.
