Frail

Frail Plucked strings through a low pass gate, for the Organelle M. They don't always hold together.

Four plucked strings, played round robin across the keys (C3 to B4). Each pluck goes through a low pass gate, so notes bloom dark and warm and close back down as they fade, and the whole thing sits back in a dark stereo room with a long tail, early echoes on the left and later ones on the right.

Frail is a little fragile on purpose. On its own it drops out now and then: very fast, very short, never on a beat, about fourteen times a minute. Latch FRAY and the strings wear out. The bridge buzzes on the loud part of each pluck, every note starts a touch sharp and sags flat, a little detune and wobble creep in, and the dropouts come three times as often. It sounds like something coming apart.

Controls

• Keys: plucked strings, 4 voices
• K1 Frail: how long the strings ring, from about 4 seconds to about 7
• K2 Bend: up to 2 semitones either way, in tune in the middle. It glides, so sweeping it bends strings that are already ringing
• K3 Gate: how long the low pass gate stays open
• K4 Body: string tone, from dark and warm to bright and metallic (tuning and ring stay put)
• AUX Fray (latching, LED on): worn strings, and more dropouts

Install: copy the Frail folder into Patches on your Organelle. No wifi, no scripts. Works on the Organelle's stock Pure Data.
