Maw
A downloadable Instrument
Maw is a guitar processor for Organelle M, built for chugs and the noise that lands on top of them. The signal chain runs in pedal order: compressor, distortion, two octave doublers, chorus, a notch on the 2.2-4.5 kHz band that hurts, then a gate. The octaves are proper delay-line pitch shifters rather than rectification, so they track palm mutes cleanly instead of turning to fizz.
K1 Squash compressor, with make-up so it doesn't just get quieter
K2 Drive saturation, level-compensated
K3 Ruin the octaves and modulation — this is the wall
K4 Mix raw guitar through to full Maw
AUX Smear latching
AUX is the reason it exists. A buffer records everything after the distortion, and two windowed heads drift through it — swelling in over three and a half seconds, taking fifteen to recede. Because it reads from after the wall, it smears what you just made rather than echoing your guitar. Hit a chug, latch it, keep playing.
The heads wander about 35 cents, under a quarter tone, so the smear never quite holds pitch.
The gate keys off the dry signal, not the wet — so the noise decays naturally when you stop instead of chopping itself off.
Requires an Organelle M. Drop the folder in your Patches directory.
