Murmur

Murmur Every note you play joins a cloud that keeps murmuring after you let go.

Murmur turns the notes you play into a living cloud. Each key adds a voice, up to twelve, and it keeps singing after you let go, so a few chords become a slowly breathing mass of sound that holds up under a whole scene. Stack it, send it through your own effects, and let it run.

Turn up Movement and the cloud starts to drift, breathe and swirl across the stereo field. Past halfway it becomes a flock. Slow waves ripple through it from left to right, and now and then the whole flock turns: a dip in pitch, a swing across the stereo, a swell, then it settles. Every so often one voice breaks away as a bird, its twin flying out an octave or a fifth up before it fades back in. Over about a minute the cloud gathers close and scatters wide again.

Controls

• Keys: each key adds a voice to the cloud (up to 12; the 13th takes over the oldest)
• K1 Reverb: long echoes and a wash on top of the sound, from close to vast
• K2 Pitch: ±12 semitones, gliding, with an easy-to-find in-tune spot in the middle
• K3 Movement: from still and pure to a full murmuration
• K4 Filter: from dark and distant (200 Hz) to wide open (12 kHz)
• AUX Fade all: everything fades away over 4 seconds and the cloud empties

The screen shows how many notes are in the cloud and the pitch.
